Encontro de Confraternização das Servas / Women´s Fraternization Meeting

Em 19 de dezembro tivemos a nossa Reunião de Confraternização das Servas. Esta reunião finaliza as atividades do departamento de servas da nossa congregação no ano de 2008. Após o devocional sobre João 1:14-18, a encarnação de Deus para a nossa salvação, ocorreu a revelação do “amigo secreto”, em que cada pessoa dá um presente à pessoa que tirou como amigo secreto. Então, nos reunimos na sala de reunião e comemos algumas guloseimas. As servas da Igreja Luterana Cristo Rei se reúne uma vez por mês para estudar a Palavra de Deus, o Evangelho de Jesus, e para planejar algum trabalho, como a limpeza do templo e a ornamentação para os cultos. Que Deus abençoe o seu trabalho, que em Cristo nunca é em vão.

On December 19 we had our Women´s Fraternization Meeting. This meeting ends the activities of the women´s department of our congregation in the year 2008. After the devotional about John 1.14-18, the incarnation of God for our salvation, it took place the revelation of “the hidden friend”, when each person gives the person chosen to be his/her hidden friend a gift. Then we gathered in the meeting room and ate some tibtit. The women of Cristo Rei Lutheran Church meets once a month to study God´s Word, Gospel of Jesus, and to plan some work, such as the cleaning of the temple and ornamentation for the services. God bless its work, which in Christ is never in vain (I Cor 14:58).

Confraternização dos Confirmandos / Fraternization of the Catechumen

Em 6 de dezembro de 2008 tivemos a confraternização daqueles que são instruídos para a confirmação. Foi a última reunião de instrução do ano. Após cantar algumas músicas de Natal e refletir sobre II Timóteo 1:3-10, nos reunimos numa outra sala para comer algumas guloseimas e jogar conversa fora – assuntos de adolescentes. Agora, a instrução só volta no ano que vem.

On December 6, 2008, we had the fraternization among those who have instruction for confirmation. That was the last instruction meeting of the year. After singing Christmas songs and reflecting over 2 Timothy 1.3-10, we gathered in another room for eating some titbit and shoot the breeze - teenagers’ subjects. Now, the instruction is back next year.

Assembléia Ordinária / Ordinary Assembly

A Congregação Cristo Rei se reuniu em Assembléia no dia 30 de novembro de 2008. Os assuntos tratados foram: 1. Relatório Financeiro e Orçamento 2009; 2. Planejamento de Atividades e Calendário 2009; 3. Eleição de parte da Diretoria da Congregação. Os novos integrantes da diretoria da congregação são José Donizetti Moretto – Presidente, Luciano Weiber – Secretário, Flávio Tannert – Tesoureiro e Norberto Tannert – Administrador de Patrimônio. E para o próximo ano haverá mais horários de culto e estudo bíblico. Que Deus abençoe ricamente os rumos que a Congregação Cristo Rei quer tomar!

Cristo Rei Congregation gathered as Assembly on November 30, 2008. The subjects dealt with were: 1. Financial Report and Budget for 2009; 2. The Schedule for 2009; 3. The Election for Part of the Board of the Congregation. The new members of the Board of the Congregation are José Donizetti – president, Luciano Weiber – recording secretary, Flávio Tannert – treasurer, and Norberto Tannert – Trustee. And for the next year there will be more Services and Bible Study times. May God bless richly the course Cristo Rei Congregation want to tread.

Conselho Distrital em Moema / District Cousel Meeting in Moema

O Conselho Distrital do Distrito Luterano Paulista se reuniu no último dia 29 de novembro para a última reunião do ano, no templo da Congregação Concórdia de Moema, em São Paulo. Foi decidido nesta reunião o orçamento distrital para o próximo ano e o calendário de atividades do Distrito Luterano Paulista. Destacamos o projeto Litoral Sul, onde se deseja colocar um pastor comissionado para a CPTN, para trabalhar junto aos luteranos que moram na região, com o objetivo de fazer missão e cuidar da Congregação Paz de São Vicente. A idéia é colocar o pastor logo em janeiro. Que Deus abençoe esse trabalho do nosso Distrito.

The District Counsel of Paulista Lutheran District gathered on last November 29, for the last meeting of this year, in the temple of Concordia Congregation, in Moema, Sao Paulo. In this meeting, it was decided about the District budget and schedule for the next year. We want to make the “South Coast Project” stand out, in which a pastor, commissioned to CPTN, will work with Lutherans whom live in that region, with the goal of making mission and taking pastoral care of Congregation Paz from Sao Vicente, Sao Paulo State. The idea is to put a pastor as soon as January. May God bless this work in our District.

Pastor Fernando em Aula de Teologia / Pastor Fernando in a Theology Class

No dia 3 de Novembro, o pastor Fernando participou de uma aula sobre igrejas cismáticas e igrejas de reforma, no Centro Cultural e Teológico de Sorocaba, um seminário interdenominacional ligado à Igreja Assembléia de Deus. Ele foi ajudar um grupo de estudantes que falou sobre o culto na Igreja Luterana.

Foi mostrado um pouco da identidade luterana, que é cristocêntrica e enfatiza os meios da graça (Palavra, Batismo e Santa Ceia). O grupo de alunos encenou o culto luterano para que os demais colegas pudessem saber como é o culto nas nossas igrejas. Ao final, os alunos tiveram o privilégio de receberem o livrete “O Que Ensinam os Luteranos” de Cristo Para Todas as Nações (CPTN).

On November 3, pastor Fernando took part on a class about schismatics and reformation churches, in the Culture and Theology Center of Sorocaba, a interdenominational seminary, linked to The Assembly of God Church. He helped a group of students which spoke about the service in the Lutheran Church.

It was showed a little of the Lutheran identity, which is Christ centered and have stress on the means of grace (Word, Baptism, and Lord´s Supper). The group of students played the Lutheran service so that the other colleagues might know how is the service in our churches. At the end, the students had the privilege of receiving the booklets “What Lutherans Teach”, by The Lutheran Hour Ministries in Brazil.

Culto de Reforma e Aniversário da Congregação / Reformation Service and Congregation Anniversary

No dia 02 de novembro, dia de finados no Brasil, tivemos um culto especial, celebrando a Deus pelos 491 anos de Reforma e 23 anos da Congregação Cristo Rei de Sorocaba, da Igreja Evangélica Luterana do Brasil.

O tema da mensagem foi a Liberdade que temos em Cristo, baseado no Evangelho segundo João 8:31-32 – “Então Jesus disse para os que creram nele: —Se vocês continuarem a obedecer aos meus ensinamentos, serão, de fato, meus discípulos e conhecerão a verdade, e a verdade os libertará.”

Foi lembrado que essa liberdade em Cristo significa que somos libertos da segurança carnal que nos impomos a nós mesmos por natureza. Libertos da condenação, do pecado e do poder do diabo, por meio da morte de Cristo na cruz, conseguimos adorar verdadeiramente a Deus.

Essa liberdade em Cristo foi o que fez Lutero pregar as 95 teses contra as indulgências e empreender a Reforma. E foi também essa liberdade em Cristo que fez com que cristãos herdeiros da Reforma de Lutero fundassem a Congregação Cristo Rei em Sorocaba. Essa liberdade em Cristo é garantida a nós quando permanecemos na Palavra de Jesus, lembrando do nosso Batismo, sendo absolvidos e participando da Santa Ceia.

Após o culto, tivemos um momento de confraternização.

In November 2, Deceased Day in Brazil, we held a special service celebrating God for 491 years of Reformation and 23 years since the foundation of Cristo Rei Congregation in Sorocaba, of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil.

The theme of the sermon was The Freedom we have in Christ, based on the Gospel according to St. John 8:31-32 – “To the Jews who have believed him, Jesus said: - If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We were remembered that this freedom in Christ set us free from a flesh security we put on ourselves, by nature. Free from damnation, sin and devil´s power, through the death of Christ on the cross, we can really worship God.

This freedom in Christ made Luther nail the 95 theses against the indulgencies and undertake the Reformation of the Church. And this same freedom in Christ also made some Christians, heir of the Lutheran Reformation found the Cristo Rei Congregation in Sorocaba. This freedom in Christ is guaranteed to us as we hold to Jesus words, remembering our Baptisms, being absolved, and taking part of the Holy Supper.

After the service, we had a moment of fellowship.

Cinema na Igreja / Cinema at the Church

Em 31 de outubro lembramos a Reforma Luterana, iniciada por Martinho Lutero em 31 de outubro de 1517 (há 491 anos atrás). Como parte da festividade, organizamos um evento chamado “Cinema na Igreja”.

Foram convidadas pessoas do bairro para assistirem ao filme “Martinho Lutero”, de 1953, um filme que traz boas informações sobre o reformador, que até foi indicado ao Oscar na sua época.

A idéia é divulgar e tornar mais popular no bairro um pedaço da história mundial e também da história da igreja, que nunca deve ser esquecida. O Cinema na Igreja ocorreu em 01 de novembro e contou com a participação de 19 pessoas presentes, sendo 5 delas visitantes (não luteranos).

On October 31 we remember the Lutheran Reformation, started by Martin Luther on October 31, 1517 (491 years ago). As part of the celebration, a event called “Cinema at the Church” was organized.

We invited people from our neighboring area to watch the movie “Martin Luther”, from 1953, a movie that bring us good informations about the reformer, which even was a nominee to the awards academy in its époque.

The idea was to spread and make more popular in the neighborhood a piece of world history as church history as well, that must never be forgotten. The Cinema at the Church took place on November 1 and had 19 people attendance, from which 5 were visitors (non-Lutheran).
