Palestra Sobre as Crianças / Lecture On Children

No dia 18 de outubro, tivemos no nosso salão de cultos uma palestra de Cristo Para Todas as Nações (CPTN). Convites foram distribuídos entre os membros da igreja e a vizinhança.
O pastor Carlos Kracke falou sobre as crianças usando o tema “Onde Estão as Crianças de Hoje?” Este assunto é muito importante para se refletir, porque o nosso mundo não quer que as crianças sejam crianças, ou seja, que brinquem, que façam coisas próprias de crianças e que aprendam a crescer aos poucos. A nossa sociedade tratam as crianças como se já fossem adultos, e tanto as crianças como os adultos sofrem com isso.
Com alguns vídeos e recursos de mídia, o pastor Carlos nos expôs que crianças devem estar nas mãos de Deus. Ele disse que elas precisam ser consideradas como presentes de Deus aos pais e que os adultos devem construir pontes para conversar com crianças, seja qual for a idade delas. Ele deu muita ênfase no diálogo entre pais e filhos e na leitura da Bíblia em família.
A palestra do pastor Carlos foi excelente e muito edificante para as nossas famílias e para a nossa congregação.

On October 18 we had in our service hall a lecture from Christ for All Nations (CPTN – Cristo Para Todas as Nações, linked with The Int´l Lutheran Hour Ministries). Invitations were spread through church member and the neighborhood.
Pastor Carlos Kracke spoke about children (in Brazil, October 12 is Child´s Day) using the theme “Where are the children today?” This issue is very important to reflect about, because our world don´t want the children to be children, namely, to play and do things characteristic of children and learn little by little to grow. Our society treats children as though they were already adults and suffer because of that, both children and grown-ups.
Using some videos and media resources, pastor Carlos showed us that children must be in God´s hands. He spoke that they need to be considered as God´s gifts to the parents and adults must build bridges to talk to children whatever their ages. He gave a lot of emphasis on dialogue between parents and children and familiar Bible reading. Pastor Carlos´ lecture was excellent and very edifying for our families and congregation.

Congresso Distrital de Jovens / Youth District Congress

Nos dias 10, 11 e 12 de outubro foi realizado o XXIII Congresso de Jovens do Distrito Luterano Paulista, cujo lema era “Despertando o Jovem para Cristo”, baseado em Efésios 5:14. Participaram 83 jovens, vindo das 14 congregações e paróquias que fazem parte do nosso distrito.

A programação estava rica e muito edificante, em todos os aspectos. Havia muita música de adoração a Deus, os momentos devocionais nos fortaleceram na fé em Jesus e na noite cultural nos divertíamos, ao mesmo tempo que refletíamos na nossa vida e na Palavra de Deus. Houve também um teste de eficiência, para testar o conhecimento dos jovens sobre a Epístola de Paulo aos Efésios. Destaque para o momento DDD (discagem direta com Deus), onde cada jovem pôde compartilhar uma angústia com outro jovem, em separado, e orar um pelo outro, como recomenda Tiago 5:16. Sábado à noite, após o DDD, houve um baita lual, para balançar o esqueleto.

Não se pode deixar de destacar as palestras, cujos temas abrangiam as cinco áreas da igreja: adoração, educação cristã, evangelismo (missão), serviço social e comunhão. E também a gincana, que contemplou até uma prova que deveria ser cumprida em menor tempo, no estilo do antigo programa “Passa ou Repassa” do SBT, usando a tirolesa como última tarefa da prova.
A divisão por grupos, que a diretoria da JELB-DLP estipulou para a participação das palestras e da gincana, fez com que as pessoas das diferentes congregações se integrassem. Isso foi muito bom para a comunhão no nosso distrito.

O congresso, como de praxe, foi finalizado com um culto a Deus, cuja mensagem era baseada no tema do congresso.

On October 10, 11 and 12 the XXIII Youth Congress o Paulista Lutheran District took place, whose motto was “Awaken the Young for Christ”, based on Ephesians 5:14. Eighty-three young people, coming from the 14 congregations and parishes of our district, participated in.

The schedule was rich and very edifying, in all aspects. There were a lot of music and worship to God, the devotional moments strengthened us in the faith in Jesus and in the cultural night we had an entertainment time, while we reflected in our lives and God´s Word. An efficiency test also ocurred to test the youth´s knowledge about Paul´s Epistle to the Ephesians. I stand out the DDG moment (Direct Dial to God), when each one could share an anguish with another one, in separate, and pray one for another, as recommended in James 5:16. Saturday night, after the DDG, a great party took place, to shake the skeleton.

We cannot forget to mention the lectures, whose themes approached the five areas of the church: Worship, Christian Education, Evangelism (Mission), Social Service and Communion. And also the equip games, which contemplated even an assignment that was to be accomplished in the lowest time, like the ancient TV program “Passa ou Repassa” (pass or repass) of SBT (An auditorium show where two groups representing schools disputes against each other. The host makes question to a group. If it does not know the answer, can pass the turn to the other group or pay an assignment. In the end of the disputation, occurs a test of some assignments the group have to accomplish in small time. Win those who accomplish everything in less time.), using a very breath taking equipment to slide in a stealth cable at the end of course (about 23 feet high and 657 feet of distance).

The group division JELB-DLP (Evangelical Lutheran Youth of Brazil - Paulista Lutheran District) stipulated caused people from different congregations to integrate. That was very good for the fellowship in our district.As praxis, the congress finished with a service to God, whose message was based upon the congress motto.

Reunião do Conselho Distrital em Sorocaba/ District Counsel Meeting in Sorocaba

No dia 04 de outubro de 2008 a liderança do Distrito Luterano Paulista se reuniu na igreja da congregação Cristo Rei de Sorocaba-SP. Tivemos a presença do pastor Benjamin Jandt, responsável pela provedoria do Seminário Concórdia de São Leopoldo-RS. Como Distrito, abraçamos a causa de ajudar na alimentação dos alunos, nossos futuros pastores, no mês de agosto de 2009. Nessa reunião também foram tratadas das moções a serem votadas no Conselho Diretor da Igreja Evangélica Luterana do Brasil.

On October 4, 2008, the leadership of Paulista Lutheran District gathered in the church of Cristo Rei Congregation of Sorocaba-SP. We had the presence of pastor Benjamin Jandt, responsible for the providing department of Seminário Concórdia of São Leopoldo-RS. As District, we will support and help to provide food for the students, our future pastors, in august 2009. In this gathering, the motions to be voted on the gathering of the Directive Counsel of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brasil were also dealt with.

Curso do Pastor Messmann / Pastor Messmann´s Course

Nos dias 15, 16 e 17 de setembro ocorreu no Seminário Concórdia de São Leopoldo um curso de aperfeiçoamento para pastores sobre Educação e Administração Paroquial. Quem ministrou as aulas foi o pastor Dr. John Messmann, da Congregação Saint Paul de Fort Worth, Texas, Estados Unidos. Ele é pastor da Igreja Luterana Sínodo de Missouri. O pastor Fernando participou do curso.

O conteúdo programático foi:

Título: “Cooperadores de Deus”, 1 Coríntios 3:9

1. Qual é a obra de Deus?
Porque e como Deus chama pessoas a se tornarem discípulos de Jesus. Esta é a base e fundamento de todo o ministério.

2.Trabalhando com Deus
Como pastores e líderes podem cultivar a obra de Deus na vida das pessoas, assim que os discípulos cresçam e se multipliquem.

3. Preparando líderes
A chave para a multiplicação – treinar líderes que Jesus irá usar para levar o Evangelho muito além do meu alcance e da minha vida.

4. Administrando a obra de Deus através da congregação
Mantendo a saúde e ação frutífera na congregação através da organização do trabalho, relacionamentos e recursos.

5. Alimentando a alma do líder
O serviço na Igreja causa esgotamento e a atividade debilita os líderes. Por causa do nome de Deus e pelo bem estar do Seu povo, o líder precisa retornar freqüentemente à fonte da força que cura.

Esse curso dá ferramentas para o ministério, primeiro lembrando da obra de salvação que é de Deus, através de Jesus; depois, lembrando que Deus age na sua Palavra para converter os corações e mantê-los na fé em Cristo. A partir desse fundamento, os pastores são lembrados de que não são eles o agente para a saúde de uma congregação, mas sim, a Palavra de Deus. A Palavra de Deus precisa ter acesso aos membros da congregação. Observando aqueles que tem sede de aprender a Palavra, o pastor vai envolvendo e preparando-os pela instrução contínua da Palavra para que esses sejam os sustentáculos para todo o trabalho congregacional.

Esperamos que esse curso produza muitos frutos para a Congregação Cristo Rei.

On september 15, 16 and 17, a course for pastor on Parish Education and Administration were offered at Seminário Concórdia of São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul. The lectures were ministered by pastor Dr. John Messmann, from St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fort Worth, TX. He is pastor for Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Pastor Fernando join in the course.

The contents of the course:

1. What is God´s work?
Why and how God summons people to be disciples of Jesus. This is the basis and foundation of church ministry.

2. Working with God
How pastor and leaders can cultivate in people´s life God´s work, so that the disciples grow and multiply.

3. Training leaders
They key for multiplication – equip leaders whom Jesus will use to bring the Gospel far beyond of my reach and my life

4. Administering God´s work through congregation
Keeping the health and the fruitful action in the congregation through work organization, relationship and resources.

5. Feeding the leader´s soul
The service in the church causes exhaustion and the activities weaken the leaders. Because of God´s name and for the welfare of His people, the leader needs to go back often to the source of strength which cures.

This course gives tools for the ministry, firstly reminding works of salvation through Jesus as belonging to God. Secondly, reminding that God acts in His Word to convert the hearts and keep them in the faith in Christ. From this foundation, the pastors are reminded that they are not the agent for the health of the congregation, but God´s Word. The Word of God must have free access to the church members. Observing those who are thirsty to learn God´s Word, the pastor will involve and train them through continuous instruction on God´s Word so that those be the pillars for all congregational works.

We hope this course brings many fruits for Cristo Rei Lutheran Church.

Aula de Música / Music Classes

Todos os sábados das 11hs às 12hs, após a instrução de confirmandos, ocorrem as aulas de música. Os alunos têm a oportunidade de aprenderem instrumentos como violão e teclado. O objetivo dessas aulas é, a médio e longo prazo, formar líderes na área musical da congregação. Por enquanto, as aulas nesse horário são restritas a membros da igreja.

Every Saturday, between 11pm and 12pm, after instruction for confirmation class, classes of music are conducted. The students have the opportunity of learning instruments such as guitar and keyboard. The objective of these classes is, in medium and long term, to train leaders for the musical area of the congregation. For while, classes in this hour are restricted to Church members.

Instrução de Confirmandos / Instruction for Confirmation Rite

Na igreja luterana, temos o costume de fazer o rito de confirmação. Após um período de profunda instrução na Palavra de Deus, os catecúmenos professam publicamente, ou seja, diante da congregação, a sua fé cristã. Isso é confirmação, quando a pessoa confirma estar na fé cristã na qual foi batizada. Sua origem vem desde o início da igreja, quando as pessoas eram instruídas na fé, e então eram batizadas, confessando a Cristo como Salvador e rejeitando os deuses falsos. Posteriormente, muitas crianças vieram a nascer em lares cristãos, sendo portanto batizadas. (A promessa do Batismo é “para vós e para vossos filhos” (At 2:39). Por essa razão Jesus, o Filho de Deus e nosso Senhor, ordenou que se fizesse discípulos de todas as nações (Mt 28:19), onde se incluem crianças também.) Então, quando essas crianças chegavam a uma certa idade, eram instruídas acerca da Palavra de Deus, principalmente acerca do poder salvador que Deus operou e opera nelas por meio do Batismo, da Santa Ceia e da Palavra. Após o período de instrução, o catecúmeno professa a sua fé cristã, confirmando estar em Cristo e, ao mesmo tempo, é confirmado como filho de Deus pelo Evangelho e imposição de mãos. Um costume antigo prescreve a unção com crisma, o que não é observado muito nas igrejas luteranas. Para nós, a importância está na instrução sólida na Palavra de Deus.

In the Lutheran Church we have the custom of observing the confirmation rite. After a period of thorough instruction on God´s Word, the catechumens profess publicly (it means before the whole congregation) their Christian faith. This is confirmation, when one confirms to be in Christian faith in which was baptized. Its origins comes since the early Church, when people were instructed in faith and then baptized, confessing Christ as Savior and rejecting false gods. Later, many children were born in Christian households, and therefore they were baptized. (The promise of Baptism is “for you and your children” (Acts 2:39). For this reason Jesus, the Son of God and our Lord, commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations (Mat 28:19), and in this include children as well). So, when these children reached a certain age, they were instructed about God´s Word, mainly about the saving power that God performed and performs in them through Baptism, Lord´s Supper and the Word. After a period of instruction, the catechumen profess his Christian faith, confirming to be in Christ and, at same time, is confirmed as God´s child through the Gospel and hand imposition. An ancient custom prescribe the anointment with holy oil, what is not so often observed in Lutheran Churches. For us, the importance abides in the solid instruction on God´s Word.

O Batismo de Isabella / Isabella´s Baptism

Em 15 de setembro de 2008, a pequena Isabella Cristina Sousa da Silva foi recebida no povo de Deus através do Santo Batismo. O seu pai, Evandro, e sua madrasta, Mônica, queriam que ela fosse batizada. Então, foram instruídos acerca da lei de Deus e do pecado humano, da conversão, da fé e prática do cristão, da graça de Deus na morte de Cristo e acerca do Santo Batismo, para que soubessem e cressem, através do poder do Espírito Santo, qual é o privilégio, a importância e as responsabilidades com relação ao Santo Batismo e a pessoa batizada.

A Escritura diz: “De fato, tenho sido mau desde que nasci; tenho sido pecador desde o dia em que fui concebido” (Sl 51:5); “Portanto, vão a todos os povos do mundo e façam com que sejam meus seguidores, batizando esses seguidores em nome do Pai, do Filho e do Espírito Santo” (Mt 28:19); “Pedro respondeu: - Arrependam-se, e cada um de vocês seja batizado em nome de Jesus Cristo para que os seus pecados sejam perdoados, e vocês receberão de Deus o Espírito Santo. Pois essa promessa é para vocês, para os seus filhos e para todos os que estão longe, isto é, para todos aqueles que o Senhor, nosso Deus, chamar” (At 2:38-39); “Porque vocês foram batizados para ficarem unidos com Cristo e assim se revestiram com as qualidades do próprio Cristo” (Gl 3:27) – Nova Tradução na Linguagem de Hoje (NTLH).

Essas são as razões porque a Santa Igreja Cristã e os Luteranos, como parte dela, batizam crianças: 1. Todas as pessoas nascem pecadoras, a não ser Jesus, que é o Filho de Deus, verdadeiro Deus; 2. Cristo mesmo ordena batizar todas as pessoas/ fazer discípulos de todas as nações; 3. A promessa de perdão e o dom do Espírito Santo são “para vocês e para os seus filhos”; 4. No Santo Batismo, somos revestidos de Cristo – Por isso Deus não condena o cristão, pois vê o seu Filho amado e não um miserável pecador em nós.

On September 15, 2008, Isabella Cristina Sousa da Silva was received in God´s people through Holy Baptism. Her father, Evandro, and her step mother, Mônica, wanted her to be baptized. So they were instructed on God´s law and human sin, conversion, faith and practice of a Christian, God´s grace in Christ´s death and the holy Baptism, in order to know and believe through the Holy Spirit´s power what is the privilege, significance and responsibilities concerning the holy Baptism and the person baptized.

The Scripture says “I have been evil from the day I was born; from the time I was conceived I have been sinful” (Ps 51:5); “Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” (Mat 28:19); “Peter said to them, ‘Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God´s gift, the Holy Spirit. For God´s promise was made to you and your children, and to all who are far away – all whom the Lord our God calls to himself.’” (Acts 2:38-39); “You were baptized into union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself” (Gal 3:27) – Good News Bible version (GNB).

These are the reasons why the Holy Christian Church and the Lutherans, as part of her, baptize children: 1. All people is born sinful, but Jesus, who is the Son of God, truly God; 2. Christ himself command to baptize all people/ make disciples from all nations; 3. The promise of forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit are “for you and your children”; 4. In holy Baptism we are clothed with Christ – So God does not condemn the Christian because he sees his beloved Son and not a miserable sinner in us.

Reunião do Conselho Distrital / District Counsel Meeting

No dia 09 de agosto de 2008 a liderança do Distrito Luterano Paulista se reunião na igreja da congregação Esperança de Campo Limpo Paulista-SP. Nessas reuniões ocorrem estudos bíblicos para com a liderança (o tema desta reunião foi a Santa Ceia), são tomadas decisões sobre o trabalho missionário da igreja luterana em São Paulo, Grande São Paulo e imediações, e são passadas informações sobre programações e eventos que estão para acontecer no âmbito do Distrito.

On August 09, 2008, the Paulista Lutheran District leadership met in the temple of Esperança Lutheran Congregation, in Campo Limpo Paulista, Sao Paulo State. In such meetings, the leadership study the Bible (the theme in the occasion was the Lord´s Supper), decide about the work of the Lutheran Church in Sao Paulo and surroundings, and the leadership of the congregations become aware of the District events and programs.
